Rose joined the Tornado staff prior to the 2017 season and guided the Tornado to a 5-9-2 record in his first season on campus.

Earned first win at King in the 2017 season opener at Concord University


Year-By-Year Season Recaps


2017-18: Rose earned his first win at King in his first game, a 1-0 victory at Concord University. The Tornado played three double overtime games, falling once and coming away with two ties. King closed the season with three straight wins, including a 1-0 win over regional rival Carson-Newman. Ben Allan and Faber Bickerstaffer both garnered third team all-conference honors.


Prior to King


Rose was an assistant coach at Milligan College where he helped develop a recruiting strategy and a plan for student-athlete development. Prior to that, he spent six years as the head coach at Virginia Military Institute (VMI). While at VMI, Rose guided Keydets to their most conference wins in 12 years during the 2013 season. His student-athletes also recorded the highest team cumulative and semester GPA in the VMI athletic department in 2015.


Rose also has NCAA Division II experience as an assistant coach at Lander University from 2004-08. He helped guide the Bearcats to the NCAA Tournament for three straight seasons from 2005-07, reaching the third round in 2005 and the second round in 2007. In 2006, the Bearcats won the Peach Belt Conference Tournament title.


Outside of college athletics, Rose has experience overseas, playing for the Middlesbrough Football Club from 1991-94 and the York City Football Club from 1994-97. He also coached for the York City Football Club from 1998-2002 and was an academy coach for the Middlesbrough Football Club in the English Premier League from 2002-04. From 2009-15, Rose was a coach educator for the Virginia Youth Soccer Association, helping to instruct coaches to earn their United State Soccer Federation D and E licenses.


Personal


Rose earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Lander University and his Master of Science in Coaching Education from the Ohio University.
